Plant update

Lynemouth Power Ltd is eagerly awaiting the outcome from the European Commission on whether the FID (Final Investment Decision) Enabling Investment Contracts for biomass conversions are in line with EU state aid rules.

Once converted Lynemouth Power Station would be able to export up to 395 MW of low carbon electricity to the national grid.

Using biomass in power stations produces clean, renewable energy. Biomass is the only energy option that delivers rapid, large scale, low cost, low carbon energy on demand, which means that the use of biomass for power generation will contribute towards the decarbonisation of the UK supporting the government’s climate change targets alongside contributing to increased security of supply.
